Hello all,

Whats the importance of a clapper board? This is another topic of which I am completly lost. Thanks for any help.

Reference to sync picture to sound, as each are recorded from separate devices.

states the scene and take, and as said is used to sync up sound later...

find the frame where the two parts are touching and thats when the noise starts, thus easy to line up sound to the exact frame

Clapper board is used to record scene/shot info onto the front of a clip. the 'Clap' made by closing is used to sync the sound recording with the film in editing.

( as Sound and Film is/was recorded seperately )

usually the director :

run sound
&lt; sound guy will confirm &gt;
run film
&lt; camera guy will confirm &gt;
slate clapped

action

modern use is a timecode slate - the timecode allows the sync.
